In October 2017, CNN team travels to Libya and witnesses a dozen men auctioned — some for as little as $400 each. The crew is also told of auctions taking place at nine locations in the country.

The web portal contains video’s, testimonies by slaves who managed to escape, Twitter feeds and various other material.

The initial report led to a flood of condemnations on the Internet and protest activities world-wide.

Rwanda offered refuge to enslaved migrants. The Libyan government committed itself to undertake investigations into this issue.
